Hi, Nick, I believe you made a mistake when you mentioned,
"TvAnts is one of a growing number of Japanese P2P TV streaming applications "
Actually, TvAnts is developed by Zhejiang University (www.zju.edu.cn/english/) from mainland China as you can verify it from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVants".
Apparently, you mistook the Chinese characters as Japanese, and then consequently you thought it was from and for Japanese.
